Hillary is still extremely unlikeable amongst Iowa caucus goes

There's 2 very bad news for the Clintons that has got to worry them.

on lobbyist and special interest groups.

The new Times Iowa polls shows Obama is the candidates most likely to fight special interest groups in received 35% of the vote...Edwards was second while Hillary got 12%

2.The other bad news for them is , despite their effort to raise Obama unfavorable ratings and bring down his likeability , it's clearly not working in the public's eyes.

Obama's fav/unfav is still much better then Edwards/Hillary if you take a look at pollingreport.com but most importantly , Hillary is by far very unlikeable.

On likeability , she only manages to get 12% of Iowa caucus goes who think she's likeable.

To make worse , Richardson has now leapfrogged her on likeability by getting 16% to Hillary's 12%.

This means a lot of her supporters are clearly soft and i guess many of them likes Bill but not her.
Times

* Likeability: Edwards (32%) and Obama (30%) lead as "most likeable." Clinton finishes last, at 12%, just below Bill Richardson (16%).

It's been repeated a hundred time. Do you believe it will work?

Get a real job, please, it's tiresome.

Re: Hillary is still extremely unlikeable amongst (2.00 / 1)

From the same poll:

"Strongest Leadership: Clinton holds a commanding lead over Edwards and Obama, 36% - 23% - 20%. Richardson (9%) trails badly on leadership.

* Handling of Iraq: Clinton (27%) leads Obama (19%), Edwards (18%) and Richardson (16%).

* Protecting Against Terrorism: Clinton leads the field by a wide margin, picked by 27%, compared to Edwards, at 19%, Obama at 15%, and Richardson at 14%."

What do you think will be more important in the primaries/caucuses, and in November 2008: the trifecta of strong leadership, handling of Iraq and protecting against terrorism OR the single issue of whether the voters "like" a particular candidate ??.

Re: Hillary is still extremely unlikeable amongst (none / 0)

We should also come to grasp that during time of crisis- It is not enough to pick a candidate- who agrees with us 100% on every public policy issue or the candidate we like to have a beer or go hunting with.

We need a candidate that is experienced in handling crisis and solving the world's problems.

let me know when we have a candidate who... (none / 0)

has experience in handling a crisis.

You are interpreting this wrong... (2.00 / 0)

The question is which candidate is most likable...because Hillary is not the top choice there does not mean people view her as unlikable...

This stat will take a very large backseat to the qualities that voters say Hillary excels at...as shown in this poll

Re: You are interpreting this wrong... (none / 0)

what was the issue most important to these voters? I would bet Handling Iraq and fighting terrorism rank higher than "who i want to have a beer with" a la bush

Re: Hillary is still extremely unlikeable amongst (2.00 / 1)

Btw, I've always though (and continue to think) that Howard Dean is a mean SOB, yet he's the one I gave my first ever political money donation to back in 2003.  "Likeability" does not necessarily translate into political support.

i have analyzed this poll (2.00 / 1)

The time polling outlet SRBI has no track record in political polling if you go to their website.

http://www.srbi.com/srbi_today.html#

Most of their work has been focused on commerical areas such as branding, consumer survey etc. They only political polls they've done so far are for Time magazine.

http://www.srbi.com/srbi_today.html

I only did a preliminary check, their polling results over the past few months did not match up well with other well-known polling firms specialized in politics. For instance, their last national poll was conducted in April.  The number was:

Clinton 33
Obama 26
Edwards 25

I checked pollster.com, no other polling firm showed such Edwards 'surge' in that period of time. pollster.com did not even include their results, i'm not sure why. The headline from their April polling was quite revealing and laughable.

"Edwards' Momentum Continues/Giuliani Still Leads Among Republicans"

Although Hillary Clinton continues to lead the pack for the Democratic nomination, she faces continued pressure not only from Barack Obama but also now from John Edwards, whose momentum from late March continues in early April, according to the latest Time Poll of registered voters.

Take every poll with a grain of salt, the aggregate results were fairly accurate in 2006 election cycle.

Re: i have analyzed this poll (none / 0)

Mr. 'electable' Edwards lost his home state to the worst president ever by 56% to 44% in 2004. Ms. Liz, your husband is hardly electable!

Blaming John Edwards for not winning NC in 2004, is about like blaming Lloyd Bentsen for losing TX in 1988. Let's see...what were the connections between those two elections...hmmm... Massachusetts Democrat leading the ticket...and...uhhh....TX and NC are RED AS HELL!!

You are either showing your ignorance or your endless ability to shamelessly spin for Hillary. I think it's the latter, but either way you are not doing yourself any favors.

disinformation (2.00 / 1)

this sort of disinformation is childish. The poll asks for 'the most likable', and you're trying to fool people it's some sort of 'unfavorable'.

lol.

huh (2.00 / 0)

Only 12% think Clinton is "most likeable" and yet 24% plan to vote for her. 30% think Obama "most likeable" but only 22% support him.

What does that tell us about likeability?

by souvarine on Fri Aug 31, 2007 at 12:47:26 AM EST

Re: huh (none / 0)

The interpretation is "I for some reason that Hillary Clinton is Satan in a Skirt but I am going to support her because she is experienced in keeping me safe and secure during time of crisis."
" Barack Obama is the Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods of Politics- He is the flavor of the year. But I am not sure he is ready to lead this country during time of crisis."

"John Edwards is the candidate that will heal my pain but he is too much of a girlie man"

According to McCain (none / 0)

Hillary drinks vodka.

(recall his story of them drinking vodka together on a Senate foreign trip)

Re: Hillary is still extremely unlikeable amongst (none / 0)

I agree.  I still get Hillary jokes from some people that either think it is funny or dislike her so much.  I assume the right is circulating a many of these Hillary jokes.

If Hillary is the right person for the Dems I do not know why the Dems have been unable to elect anyone but a white southern male as president in recent history.  They have not even had any luck with a war hero like Kerry.

by realtime on Fri Aug 31, 2007 at 08:45:41 AM EST

I need some help making sense of this (none / 0)

When you look at other polling of individual states, and when you look at the national numbers, Hillary has the highest approval of the top three among Democratic likely voters.   So how is it that this number in Iowa is so low?   Are Iowa Democrats 180 degrees from other Democrats?
